What do you get when you cross a WW2 spy, family dynamics a la Hannah and Her Sisters, Hasidic Judaism, a strategically-timed barbiturate and a potentially lethal 4 iron? A wonderful novel! This book is a must read especially if you like mysteries, strong characters, witty dialogue and the humor and drama within family relationships. The book’s protagonist, Andrea (Andy) Bravos is spunky, vulnerable, relatable and I absolutely adore her. Ms. Hersage does a masterful job of navigating Ms. Bravos through weighty circumstances and topics in a welcoming, personable and often comical way. 80 pages in, I was not only rooting for Andy and her family to have some type of closure but I wanted to somehow be adopted into this wildly wonderful family! Andy had me in her grip until the very end….I finished the book in one sitting. What a wild ride! Score 1 for Nancy Hersage and her tenacious heroine....will upset officials of several small countries, insult the founders of three major religions... #sleuth Click To Tweet

A New Mystery Novel and Coming of Age Story for Boomers
Andrea Bravos is dazed and amazed when a Styrofoam burger box with her ex’s ashes arrives in the mail. Her adventure to find out what happened will upset officials of several small countries, insult the founders of three major religions, give her four adult children acid reflux, and lead her to assault with a deadly golf club.
In the process, she will joyfully drag along her soft-spoken but fearsome accountant, while trying to fend off her mooch of a nephew. It’s a convoluted and quixotic caper, but it all comes together in the end—even the avocados, World War II spy, IRS agent, palm reader, and deadly spider.
Move over Marple and Plum, here comes Andy!
Introducing the Andrea Bravos Mystery Series.
Creative, hilarious, wonderfully written. Recommend it to anyone who likes a mystery hidden within a book about weird family dynamics and self-discovery. ~ Review by Mary A. Hartmann
